MBTA OFFICIALS are resuming some but not all of the subway services that were shut down after a portion of the Government Center Garage collapsed on Saturday just above the subway tunnels.

Officials said Tuesday evening that Orange Line service between North Station and Back Bay Station would resume but no stops would be made at Haymarket. Green Line service between North Station and Government Center will not resume, in part because most of the debris from the garage collapse came down just above the Green Line tunnel.

The T urged Green Line riders seeking to travel through the area to use the Orange Line, which can be accessed at North Station and Park Street Station. The Shuttle bus service that had been operating between North Station and Government Center was expected to shut down at the end of service Tuesday night.

“Because most of the debris stemming from the partial garage collapse came down on the surface directly above the Green Line, structural engineers continue an intensive examination and assessment of the tunnels used by Green Line trains,” the MBTA said in a statement. “Green Line service between North and Government Center Stations will remain suspended while this important work continues.  Above the Green Line tunnel, MBTA personnel are on site, and working jointly with accident investigators and the developer’s debris removal team.”
