Freelance reporter Colman Herman had just finished gathering financial information from the state’s quasi-public authorities when the Boston Globe published its own story and chart examining the salaries of higher-paid workers. Herman’s data slices the information a bit differently — by CEO salary, by office space expense, and by expenditures for outside attorneys. No matter which way you look at the information, the quasi-public authorities are big spenders by government standards and the ranks of the well-paid tend to be dominated by white men.
