On the state’s sudden reversal and decision not to spend $9 million in federal stimulus money for a footbridge over Route 1 that would connect an office park to be developed by Patriots owner Robert Kraft with the billionaire businessman’s Gillette Stadium and Patriot Place entertainment center, a federal official told the Associated Press:

We did ask Massachusetts to withdraw that project, and the reason is we thought Massachusetts had more important projects to fund with Recovery dollars.
