A NUMBER OF TOP OFFICIALS at Steward Health Care, including Chairman and CEO Ralph de la Torre, are relocating their base of operations from Boston to Dallas in the wake of the company’s significant expansion to other states, sources say.
A spokesman for Steward declined comment.
Sources said the company’s rapid expansion into other states – it has grown from overseeing nine hospitals in one state to 36 hospitals in 10 states – is ushering in a lot of changes in management and may necessitate multiple corporate offices around the country.
Steward completed a merger with IASIS Healthcare LLC at the end of September that added 18 hospitals in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Texas, and Utah to its network. Steward says it has become the largest private hospital operator in the country, with projected revenues of almost $8 billion in 2018.
