With election season heating up, the governor did not make any vetoes to the package, according to a Healey spokesperson.
The compromise features an increase of $2.37 billion or 3.9 percent over the budget Healey signed last July and roughly $54.3 million larger than the fiscal year 2027 budget she proposed in January.
Healey’s $7.5 billion proposal would continue to fund state government for about another month if the next spending cycle begins without a final budget in place.
For the first time since 2019, House and Senate Democrats have reached an agreement on joint rules to guide their work in the legislative session that began six months ago.
The redraft includes $95.6 million for the Department of Children and Families and Department of Transitional Assistance-related child care, plus $94 million for income-eligible child care. It leaves out nearly two-thirds of the House-approved spending, including $43 million for rent assistance, $60 million for home care services and $15.5 million to replace electronic benefits cards vulnerable to fraud.
